Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection, intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to Thee, O Virgin of Virgins, my Mother! To thee I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. (Heremake your request) O Mother, of the World Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
O Mary, most merciful Mother, have pity on the holy souls detained for a time far form the in the purifying flames of purgatory; break their fitters, and deliver them from the abyss where they sigh, longing for their heavenly country and for the happy moment when they will be united for ever with God.
Have compassion especially on the abandoned souls; it is chiefly for them we pray to thee.
O Mother of Mercy, vouchsafe to grant our request. We beseech thee; unites us all in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ, thy adorable Son, Who lived and reigneth with the Holy Sprit for ever and ever. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
God, come to my assistance. Lord make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
O my God, I thank you for having preserved me today and for having given me so many blessings and graces. I renew my dedication to you and ask your pardon for all my sins.
(Make a short review of the day, briefly recalling with gratitude the good things that have happened, and repenting in sincere sorrow the sins you have committed.)
Acts of faith, hope, love and contrition may now be made.
Many saints have had the practice of adding three “Hail Mary’s” here in honor of Mary’s purity for the grace of a chaste and holy life. Many monasteries have the custom of ending Night Prayers with the Hail, Holy Queen.
Lord, source of eternal life and truth, give to Your shepherd, the Pope, a spirit of courage and right judgement, a spirit of knowledge and love.
By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his care may he, as successor to the apostle Peter and vicar of Christ, build Your church into a sacrament of unity, love, and peace for all the world.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
God, eternal shepherd, you tend your Church in many ways and rule us with love. You have chosen your servant, Bishop Frank J. Dewane, to be a shepherd of your flock. Give him a spirit of courage and right judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love. By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his care, may he build your Church as a sign of salvation for the world.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
O God, in your wonderful providence You were pleased to choose Blessed Joseph to be the spouse of your most holy Mother. Grant, we beg you, that we may be worthy to have him for our intercessor in heaven whom we venerate on earth as our protector. You who live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
